We are a family of 6, 4 kids, and this location was kid friendly!! It has great pools, and the best beach. We had so much fun on our 9 days, and when we go back, will be staying here again!! The room is well equipped! It’s one of the few I have stayed at that actually has sharp knives to chop up food, and great cookware, which made food in, enjoyable! Wish there was a washer and dryer in the unit, but that is minimal to the amount of FUN we had with our stay at Ma’alaea Surf resort!

Having been to Ma'alaea Surf previously, we knew what to expect from the overall property. Unit A1 was nicer than we expected. Kitchen very well stocked, two good-sized bedrooms with king beds, ample comfortable seating for all guests. Our only suggestion would be a nightstand/bedside table on both sides of guest bedroom bed. Of course, the beachfront location and view is unbeatable. Suggestion: Make restaurant reservations as far ahead of visit as possible. We found popular restaurants booked completely or only early/late times available.

This place is absolutely central to all of the activities and on top of that the units were clean and the property was prestine.
Malea was a great communicator and was responsive to all of the questions and needs we had.
We will absolutely be back and look forward to it!
We had some issues with the stove, it seemed to have a mind of its own and the outdoor furniture for the patio was a bit outdated and not the most comfortable to sit and relax in the sun on, but super minor issues.

We loved our stay!! We truly didn’t want to leave. Wonderful location and beautiful sunsets. Perfect amount of space for our family of 5. Very comfortable, but some of the furniture (mainly couches, pillows, on the couches and dinning room chairs) was pretty worn down and could use replacing. Maintenance of the grounds and pool was exceptional!! Wonderful stay and will be back.

We simply could not have been any more pleased with our time at Ma'alaea Surf Resort. The staff keep the grounds impeccably maintained. Our unit (A-1) was well furnished and the kitchen was well stocked. Being right on the water was simply magical for us. Having laundry on site (the cleanest laundry room I have ever seen by the way) was a great bonus for us. I could not more highly recommend this resort if you are ready to relax. No muss, no fuss, just relaxation. Thank you for making this type of simple vacation experience available. We could not be more grateful for the memories our family made there!

First time in this unit, overall we were happy and loved the location. This unit has been taken care of and is comfortable.The furniture (sofa) has a 'whoppee' cushion effect when sitting down giving lots of startled looks (and giggles) in that direction. The furnishings are a little tired, there isn't an oven but who cooks when in paradise! Took a little help from management on the cooktop. Loved having the coffee grinder for the great coffee beans.The property is so well tended and it is the 'old Hawaii' feel that brings me back to this lovely spot. Management is always helpful and quickly resolves any issues.

This was my third visit to Maui and by far my favorite. We decided to stay in Kihei due to the convenient location (45 mins max drive to any major tourist destination). The only downfall of this place is that there aren’t many restaurants and attractions within walking distance. Also the washer/dryer situation was an issue in multiple buildings but still happy to have onsite laundry. That’s definitely the trade off for being right on the beach for an affordable price. Met the owner and/or building manager (Lydia) on the last day and she was super nice. We really appreciated the late checkout due to our very late flight. Thank you!

We had a wonderful 8 days at Ma'alaea Surf. We have been several times in the past and missed it this last year as we, like the rest of the world, had to pause. Returning was a little slice of normal. Resort is beautiful, well maintained and perfectly located. We love it!!

We stayed at your resort in Dec 2019 for the first time and it exceeded our expectations. So we booked again for this Dec, and everything was awesome again ! Great location, just steps from the beach and sometimes seems like our own private beach. The condo and amenities are everything you need and more. We love to stay in some nights and cook nice dinners vs eating out every night. We are not “high rise” hotel people, so this condo works perfect ! We tried to find flaws but could not.

This property is ocean front, literally steps from the beach and warmly decorated (feels like home) and the kitchen is very well equipped with all you will need. You can easily tell the owners take pride in their condo. It is clean and up-dated. The property managers are extremely friendly and are an asset to the property.

Overall we had a great vacation. However at the time of booking it was neglected to mention that renovations would be going on next and below our condo. It was very unfortunate that Mother Nature threw up a flood, but it would have been nice to know.
The condo was very clean and well supplied with everything one would need. It is time for a update of the bathrooms.
The view from the condo is fantastic! We loved our morning coffee and evening cocktails on the balcony.

Dream Vacation

We couldn't have asked for a better vacation this summer. The view from the balcony could not have been more beautiful. The condo was well stocked with everything we needed and the layout worked well for our family of 4 with two children. The staff was wonderful and the whole property was well maintained. Considering the conditions Kihei was in just months ago, we were very pleased that everything seemed almost back to normal. Our only complaint was a leaky shower door on the bottom level bathroom, which we reported. Overall, it was a dream stay. We can't wait to come back!

Just wrapped up our 3 week stay at the Maalaea Resort. It always feels like coming home to Maui. The beachfront condo was perfect to relax,people watch and play in the ocean right outside our condo. Malea & Ryan, our property managers, welcomed us back and made our stay the best ever! We’ve already made plans for next August! We already miss the place and look forward to our return☺️Aloha!

Fantastic location, in a quieter area but convenient to anywhere on the island. A short walk down the beach to a convenience store, bakery and shave ice stand. Immaculate resort grounds with a classic Hawaii feel and a gorgeous beach just steps away. The condo itself was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. Can't wait to come back and stay here again!

It's been over 30 yrs. since we were here but 1st time for daughter and grand kids. Everything around has changed but Maalaea Surf was the same as we remembered. It's a real view of what Maui was like. It brought back fond memories for us and made new great ones for the kids. Thanks for not tearing it down and building a new high rise...G & J

Only have a couple comments, need additional chair or chairs in living space. Dinning table chair on mirror side very tight to mirror, concerned about breaking mirror. Also patio furniture could be updated. Had a great time and good to see that Ma'alaea Surf Resort survived the flood.

This property is stunning. It's slightly older, but very well maintained and beautifully updated. It was a quaint experience that exceeded expectations.
Because the property manager was so proactive, I only had to interact with them one time. They were professional, polite and speedy.
Location location location! This place feels secluded yet you can walk to the world famous Shave Ice stand or to the bakery.
I swear never to travel to the same place twice (so many great places to see) but we will definitely go back to Ma'alaea Surf.

This unit is nicely located near the smaller pool and a very short walk to the sand/beach. It is very close to the community BBQ's and a short walk to the trash bins and parking lot. The unit is very well equipped but could use a crockpot and cookie sheet. Queen bed is very comfortable. Living room has a comfortable L shaped couch. The entire unit has been well maintained. The property managers are on site and wonderful people. You can't be closer to the beach without camping on it and we walked it everyday. Ma'alaea Surf doesn't feel like an overcrowded resort - you feel like you are home. The property is beautiful and very well maintained.
Both pools are cleaned daily and so refreshing. We wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else.

We love this resort & you can’t beat the functionality of these units! So nice to walk strait out onto the grass and beach rather than staying at a larger resort. Condos are spacious and well appointed. This unit (C-1) feels less updated than others, but still works great. Only thing missing is a hot tub at the resort but still our favorite spot on Maui!

We always have a wonderful time when we stay at Maalaea Surf. All the properties we’ve stayed in are lovely and this last one was no exception! Maalaea Surf is right on the beach. We had a family holiday and everyone had a great time. We’re already excited for our next vacation there!

A recent flood has prompted new paint,cabinets and furniture which were all desperately needed. We have stayed in this same unit several years in a row, mainly due to location and a excellent property management team. It is not the fanciest condo but very convenient. The air conditioner is noisy and needs to be replaced with energy efficient mini splits

We loved our stay at Ma'alaea Surf! The condo was recently remodeled with a new kitchen and all new modern furnishings. C-1 is an end unit with no one above you and high ceilings. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped and beach chairs, a cooler and sand toys are stored in the closet.
The landscaping at Ma'alaea Surf is stunning and the low density makes this resort quite special. We'll be back!

Our family of 4 had the best time at Ma'alaea Surf this summer. The grounds are beautiful, the beach is amazing with such soft sand, and of course our kids were obsessed with the pools. We will definitely stay here again the next time we come to Maui.

This condo was perfect for us as we could walk outdoors without having to negotiating stairs. Our favorite activities were readily available: beach walking and shuffleboard. The condo is within walking distance to a fruit stand, bakery and coffee shop. The kitchen was well equipped for meal preparation and dining. We enjoyed visiting with other guests. This condo is situated in an ideal spot, centrally located on the Island. Hope to stay at this same location another time in the future.

The appartement is right on the beach. Very clean. The resort is very clean. The laundry room is very well organized. Very quiet area. You really need a car to go shopping for groceries. Very small street market close by during week days. We didn't try the tennis court, they were painted.

This was our third stay at Maalaea Surf, our favorite resort on Maui. We like the relatively moderate size of the resort, its location by the extensive beach and the overall layout and design of the units.
We stayed at Unit H2 before and for 10 days this time, six days at C4. Both condos were fine, but we do prefer H2's location by the beach. H2 was totally renovated after the muddy disaster last year. It's a clean design, but we somewhat missed the ambience of the previous decor. We would have liked better reading lights.

My husband and I had stayed here 5 years ago and were hesitant to book this place again due to the flood in 2021. We were pleasantly surprised that within the unit and the grounds, you would have never known there was a foot plus of mud in December. The upgrades the owners did to the unit are very nice. The unit was also very well stocked with the basic essentials. We love the quiet location of this property and the close proximity to the beach, just steps away. You do need a car though to go to restaurants/shopping.
